The former Stedelbauer Motors site on Ottawa near King Street in Kitchener has been sold to a group of Toronto investors who plan to build a massive Asian supermarket on the site.
John Cheng of Solid State Realty, which is handling the sale, tells 570 News the two-storey venue will be similar to Zehr’s and Sobeys. “Inside it will be a little bit different. The main thing will be a food court set up inside the grocery store. You can sit in to eat at or you can take out as well.”
Cheng says the new owners believe there is a huge opportunity for them to capitalize. “We researched the market here. The Asian market place is under-served. We only have two actually in the town, so we need something more modern and more substantial to serve the customers in the K-W Tri-City area.”
Cheng says construction is expected to start in April or May and should take about six months to complete.
