Charges laid after woman shot in face with BB gun in Kitchener

A Kitchener man is facing a list of weapon-related charges after an incident in that city that saw a woman shot in the face with what police are calling an imitation firearm.

It was around 3:35 a.m. on Monday when police responded to the area of Victoria Street North and Weber Street West for reports of a firearm being discharged in the area.

Their investigation later determined that a man had “discharged a weapon” that was believed to be a BB gun, striking a woman in the face. The victim, a 33-year-old, sustained minor physical injuries.

It’s alleged that the two were involved in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting. Police have since indicated that the victim and the accused were not known to one another.

As part of their investigation, police conducted a search warrant at a home in the King Street West area on Wednesday, seizing three imitation firearms.

  • Careless use of firearm
  • Discharge air gun with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carry conceal weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death

That man was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
