Summer’s almost over and with classes set to resume in three weeks, the City of Cambridge is issuing a call for applicants who want to help students get to school safely.
The City of Cambridge is hiring crossing guards who are available to work throughout the upcoming school year.
There’s also on-call spare crossing guard positions available, and access to reliable transportation is required for both roles.
The hourly rate is $23 and crossing guards are expected to work about two hours a day, split between the morning and afternoon when kids are headed to school and then returning home.
The city is recruiting crossing guards for designated locations along Elgin Street and Saginaw Parkway, although the on-call positions may be needed elsewhere.
The first day of school is Sept. 8.
