Panthers renew Highway 7 rivalry on the road against Guelph

Saturday afternoon will see the 5th matchup of the season between the Canadian Baseball League’s rival Kitchener Panthers and Guelph Royals in 2026.
The Kitchener Panthers enter Saturday with a 10-23 record, in the midst of an 8 game losing streak, the second longest of any team in the league this season. As for the home side, the Guelph Royals are 19-14 after a loss to the Brantford Red Sox on Friday night, and the Royal City squad is 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Kitchener and Guelph are tied 2-2 in the season series, with each squad winning a game in each ballpark throughout the season.
The Panthers find themselves on their longest streak of the season without a 10-run game, in the midst of what has been a down streak for Kitchener’s offense. Their last double-digit scoring performance came on the road against the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers on July 10. They also find themselves in the middle of a 4-game road streak, tied for the longest of their originally-scheduled 2026 calendar.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. at Guelph’s Hastings Stadium, but there is potential for a rainout given the forecast projected for late Saturday into Sunday. A season of unprecedented delays and rescheduled games due to weather and air quality issues due to the Ontario wildfires means the team will likely be hesitant to cancel, but only time will tell.
