Kitchener Panthers lose six in a row for second time this season

The Kitchener Panthers’ struggles continued over Tuesday night’s 8-5 loss at home against the Hamilton Cardinals.
With just over a month left in their season, the Panthers now find themselves with a 10-21 record, putting them seventh in the Canadian Baseball League’s standings.
The game saw the Panthers’ Jorge Minyety face off against Hamilton’s Caleb Seroski.
The Cardinals would jump onto an early lead in the first. Evan Magill hit a grand slam after the first three batters of the game reached with singles.
In the second inning, a single from Brandon Nicoll would stretch the lead to five runs. However, an RBI single from Petey Kiefer would get the run back, making it a 5-1 game after the third.
In the fourth inning, Tyler Duncan would add on to the Cardinals’ lead, recording an RBI single.
Then in the fifth, Evan Magill would hit his second home run of the night off of Jorge Minyety, this time scoring one to push their lead to six.
Entering the sixth, Ben Hewitt would take over the mound for Kitchener and would pitch the remaining four innings.
The Panthers would look to respond in the eighth, as Petey Kiefer would record his second RBI single of the night and Trent Lawson homered to make it a 7-4 ballgame.
The Panthers and Cardinals would trade a run in the ninth to close out the game with an 8-5 score.
Jorge Minyety recorded the loss after getting seven strikeouts and allowing seven runs through five innings of work. While Ben Hewitt also struck out seven while allowing one unearned run to close out the last four innings.
