Charges laid in crash that closed Highway 6 in Morriston

The Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in connection to a five-vehicle crash that closed Highway 6 between Highway 401 and Hamilton, last week.

A 27-year-old Georgetown man has been charge with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

According to police, two transport trucks and three other vehicles were involved in the crash that happened around 7:30 a.m. on June 16.

A load of dry concrete spilled onto the road. That required the Ministry of the Environment to be notified.

Only one person was taken to hospital and their injuries were described as minor.

Police had to the shutdown a stretch of Highway 6 between Badenoch Street and Leslie Road West for clean-up and repairs. That work took over 12 hours and required a second closure for a short time the following day.

The OPP remind all drivers that if you have an urgent traffic complaint or if you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 911 immediately.
