Kitchener GO train line not running over Victoria Day long weekend

Major track upgrades over the May 2-4 will have the Kitchener GO train line suspended for three days.

Metrolinx said the upgrades are needed for “essential improvements that will support faster, more frequent GO service as part of GO Expansion.”

It means the last train leaving Kitchener before the holiday rush, will be Friday night at 10:34 p.m.

And then no train service for three days between Kitchener GO and Union Station.

All trips on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (May 16-18) will be replaced by GO bus service instead.

“Expect to arrive at Kitchener GO 25 to 35 minutes earlier than the train would normally depart and will arrive at Union around the same time as the train would,” read a notice from Metrolinx.

“Metrolinx understands that closures and service changes are disruptive. Weekend service disruptions are scheduled months in advance to accommodate work to improve and maintain our transit system.”

Everything will be back, business as usual, on Tuesday, May 19.

Scheduling information can be found here.

The Barrie Line will also be impacted during this time.
