Guelph police say one person killed in GO train collision

An investigation is underway after a person was struck and killed by a GO train in Guelph on Tuesday afternoon.
Guelph police said it happened soon after 3:00 p.m. near the Guelph Central GO station.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said no other details would be released until the person’s family was notified.
A notice on Tuesday on GO Transit’s website said, “A person has been struck by a train at Guelph Central GO, and the area continues to be in the hands of emergency personnel.”
Metrolinx said GO trains could not move through the area until a full investigation is completed. Service was back to normal for Wednesday morning.
