Kitchener Rangers head coach named finalist for OHL Coach of the Year

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

As the Kitchener Rangers continue their push for playoff victory, their head coach is also in the running for some major recognition.

Jussi Ahokas has been named a finalist for the OHL Coach of the Year.

He’s up against four other coaches for Ottawa, Windsor, Flint and Barrie.

Ahokas is no stranger to the accolade, being named OHL Coach of the Year last season.

This year’s nomination comes after Ahokas led the Rangers to the Western Conference title — the first time they’ve done that since 2008.

The Rangers also recorded 100 points this season for the second year in a row.

The winner will be announced on April 16.
