Guelph, Newfoundland police collaborate on undercover luring investigation

Guelph police collaborated with officers from Newfoundland in an investigation that brought charges against a south-end man.

According to the police service, on March 4, local officers received information from a Newfoundland RCMP undercover officer who was posing as a 15-year-old girl online.

The undercover officer had ongoing conversations with a man in Guelph who engaged in sexually explicit conversations and who sent phonographic videos and explicit images of himself to someone he believed to be underage.

On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at the 38-year-old Guelph man’s residence, where he was arrested, and his devices were seized for further examination.

He was charged with two counts of luring a child under 16 and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.

The 38-year-old will appear in court on June 16.
