Kitchener Rangers crowned Midwest champs following win over London

Your Kitchener Rangers are Midwest Division champions for the first time this decade after a hard-fought win over London on Sunday afternoon.

The Blueshirts defeated the Knights 4-1, a close bout between the two rivals that included a pair of late empty-net goals from the Rangers.

Rangers forward Luca Romano scored the opening goal for Kitchener, his second in two games since returning from injury.

London goaltender Sebastian Gatto made 35 saves in a losing effort, but continues to impress this season with a .921 save percentage and 2.25 GAA.

The Rangers now turn their attention to winning the Western Conference title, and hold a five-point lead on the second-placed Windsor Spitfires following Sunday’s games.

The Rangers head to Sarnia for a bout against the ninth placed Sting on Wednesday evening.
