Kitchener public school to reopen after flooding

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

With warmer temperatures bringing a brief thaw for Waterloo Region, one local public school closed its doors on Tuesday due to flooding.

The Waterloo Region District School Board reported that W.T. Townshend Public School in Kitchener was closed Feb. 17.

In a release, the public board said the decision was made to close the school to both students and staff because of the situation, which was caused by a water backup.

In an update Tuesday night, the board said both W.T. Townshend Public School and the child care centre would reopen Wednesday.

However, the school’s gym will remain closed for the rest of the week.
