Rangers defeat Attack, earn sixth win in a row

An explosive third period propelled the Kitchener Rangers to their sixth win in a row, defeating the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night.

Owen Sound got the game’s first score at 3:31 in the first period by Cole Zurawski. Less than 10 minutes later, Dylan Edwards evened up the game for Kitchener on the power play, netting his 25th goal of the season.

Kitchener took 10 shots in the second and Owen Sound followed with nine, but neither team was able to secure a goal.

In the third, the Rangers broke the game open with five unanswered goals. Luca Romano gave the 2-1 lead for the Rangers on a shorthanded goal at 5:25 for his first goal in 15 games.

That was followed by Jack Pridham’s 30th goal of the season at 11:36, becoming the eventual game winner.

Other goals came from across the lineup, including from Haeden Ellis, Alexander Bilecki, and Tanner Lam. Owen Sound scored one more time at 19:01 by Masen Wray to finish off the game 6-2.

Following the win, the Rangers continue to hold onto their lead in the Midwest Division and are second in the Western Conference, with a record of 29-11-3-1 and 62 points.

The Rangers are on the road in Pennsylvania Saturday, as they travel to Erie Insurance Arena to take on the Erie Otters.
