KW Titans lose for the second time this season against the Five

The KW Titans kept it close, but were not able to get the victory over the visiting Sudbury Five, dropping Saturday’s contest 113-107.

Sudbury took an early 30-28 lead by the end of the first quarter. KW continued to trail 59-56 at halftime. The Titans outscored the Five in the third quarter, putting up 33 points to make it 91-89 in favour of the Five. But the offence would fizzle in the fourth, as the Titans managed to put up only 18 points to Sudbury’s 22.

Small forward Tarkus Ferguson lead the way for the Titans, scoring 24 points coming off the bench and three rebounds. Shooting guard Antoine Mason also contributed 14 points and five rebounds.

Sudbury’s starting players made their presence known, with centre Jaquan Lightfoot putting up a double-double with 11 rebounds and his 21 points. Small forward Duane Notice put up 22 points of his own, with a single rebound.

Despite the loss, KW remains near the top of the Basketball Super League Standings in second place with a 6-2 record. The Sudbury Five hold onto first place with a 5-1 record.

The Titans will be on the road Sunday as they take a trip to Erie, Pennsylvania, to take on the Lake Erie Jackals.

Tip off is at 3 p.m.
