OPP searching for suspect after two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401 EB

Officers with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Guelph Line which sparked a search for a suspect.

Reports of the collision first came in at around 1:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon, describing a two-vehicle crash approaching Guelph Line and minor injuries were reported.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt told 570 NewsRadio that a suspect fled the scene on foot after the crash occurred.

Officers conducted an active search, but were unable to locate the individual.

The incident led to a brief closure of two eastbound lanes as police began their initial investigation and worked to clean up the vehicles involved.

Eastbound 401 lanes fully reopened by 2:16 p.m.

OPP say their investigation into the crash and whereabouts of the suspect is ongoing.
