Snow event extended in Cambridge after days of snow and ice

The City of Cambridge extended a snow event first put in place at noon on Monday.

The snow event is set to be in effect until noon Wednesday, Jan. 7, after two back-to-back days of messy winter weather.

It means no on-street parking is allowed during that time to allow for snowplows to clear city streets.

Any vehicles on the road could be ticketed and/or towed.

It comes as Monday’s snowfall led to a tricky morning commute. A special weather statement was in effect for 5-10 cm of snow but was dropped just before 8 a.m.

On Tuesday, Environment Canada is warning of freezing rain, ice pellets and possibly more snow.

The city is asking anyone to wait 36 hours after the snow event is over to report a problem area.
