There’s been a number of load thefts in Waterloo Region and surrounding areas this month.
On Monday December 29, around 5 p.m., Guelph police recovered a tractor trailer equipped with cargo, stolen from a business in Cambridge just 30 minutes prior.
Regional police said they are investigating three freightliner transport trucks taken on Monday as well around 1:30 a.m. from a business in North Dumfries.
Guelph police were able to recover a high-valued load of cargo in the area of Southgate Drive. They saw a man exiting a truck with a trailer attached and getting into a dark-coloured sedan, fleeing the area.
The driver is described as possibly Indian, 5’9, and wearing a scarf over his head or face.
Regional police are recommending securing everything from warehouses, transport routes and parking areas with proper fencing, good lighting or controlled access points. They also recommend utilizing GPS tracking systems, which is how Guelph police were able to track down the stolen tractor trailer.
Anyone with information is asked to contact WRPS, Guelph police or Crimestoppers.
