Special weather statement issued for snow, ice pellets on Boxing Day

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for snow and possible ice pellets coming to Waterloo Region.

The weather authority says five to 10 centimetres of snow mixed with possible ice pellets are expected late Friday morning and into the evening.

“Snowfall amounts may be reduced due to the mixing with ice pellets at times,” the statement says. “There is also the risk of freezing rain Friday afternoon or evening.”

Travel could become slippery and visibility could be reduced on roadways.

Drivers are asked to adjust plans accordingly.
