Arrest made in fake projector scam from August

Regional police have made an arrest into a fake projector scam from earlier this year.

On Dec. 22, police arrested a 29-year-old man from Halton Region in connection to a fake projector scam from August 18 at a local university campus.

He has been charged with fraud under $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

Police say the man does not have any ties to the region and has previously been charged in a similar fraud incident.

Last month, regional police warned of a series of fake projector scams that happened between August 7 and October 9.

570 News Radio has reached out to regional police to confirm if these incidents are connected to the arrest.

Police are reminding the public to be careful and vigilant against scammers, especially during the holidays.
