Midnight smash-and-grab targets jewellery store in Guelph

Guelph police are on the hunt for a trio of suspects from a midnight smash-and-grab at a jewellery store.

Officers said the alarms went off soon after midnight, Monday, at a store around Edinburgh Road South and Kortright Road West.

They got the owner on the phone, and he confirmed to police he could see broken glass via his security cameras.

When officers arrived, they found the back door had been pried open, with a number of glass cabinets and display cases smashed in, and an unspecified amount of jewellery had been stolen.

A witness told police a beige or silver car left the area at about the same time, but police could not say for sure it was connected to the robbery, or just happened to be there by coincidence.

The store cameras caught three suspects on video.

Guelph police described one as wearing a black Reebok hoodie, with a black toque, gloves, and a headlamp with a black band.

The second suspect was wearing a black Nike Soccer hoodie, a black baseball cap, black pants, and gloves.

And the third was wearing a black ski mask, a green sweater with black squares on the shoulders, black pants, and gloves.

Any and all witnesses are asked to call Guelph Police at 519-824-1212, or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or by clicking here.
