Asphalt paving detours drivers in New Hamburg

Drivers heading through New Hamburg will find the community nearly divided in half by asphalt paving work this week.

The Region of Waterloo warned drivers that Waterloo Street is closed in New Hamburg between Steinman Street and Arnold Street for paving at the CN rail crossing.

It is expected to remain in place until Friday, but in the meantime, drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow the posted detour route that takes traffic along Highway 7/8 and Nafziger Road.

In a release, the region notes that the work aims to improve the crossing’s condition for those heading through the area.

It was just last week that a similar closure could be found in St. Jacobs, closing a stretch of King Street North near the Farmers’ Market. That closure has since been lifted.
