Rangers defeated by Storm, drop third game in a row

The Kitchener Rangers appear to be in a slump, as they dropped their third game in a row in a loss to the Guelph Storm on Saturday.

The Storm came out firing in the first period, scoring three unanswered goals, including two from left winger Ethan Miedema.

Captain Cameron Reid finally got the Blueshirts on the board early in the third period. A comeback began to mount as Luke Ellinas put away his second goal of the year. But it would fall short with the Rangers unable to get one more, losing 3-2.

The loss comes after Friday’s fall to the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds and last Sunday’s loss to the Kingston Frontenacs.

The Rangers are now just two points ahead of the Storm in the Midwest Division, with a record of 12-6-2-0 and 26 points.

They won’t have to wait long before taking another shot at Guelph, as the Storm will visit the East Avenue Blue on Tuesday.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
