A Kitchener man turned himself in to police after a wild ride that included doing donuts in a parking lot, fleeing police, crashing, and running away.
Waterloo regional police say it all began soon before 11:30, on the night of Oct. 23, when an officer spotted a vehicle doing donuts in the Ottawa Street North and River Road East area.
That vehicle sped away when the officer got close, and in the interest of public safety, there was no police chase.
Soon after, police got a call about a crash in the same area, and officials said it was the same vehicle from the parking lot.
The driver hit a pole, and witnesses saw him running off and jumping fences to get away.
Police said the next day, he surrendered to police and was arrested.
The 21-year-old Kitchener man was charged with dangerous operation, flight from police, failing to stop at a red light, and more.
