Guelph cyclist dead after being hit by garbage truck

A cyclist in Guelph is dead following a collision with a garbage truck on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to the area of Elmira Road North and Massey Road around 3:20 p.m.

A 37-year-old male cyclist was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the garbage truck was not physically injured.

Road closures in the areas lasted approximately five hours.

Guelph Police continue to investigate and are asking witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage to call the Traffic Services Unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7263.
