Police searching for suspect after stolen vehicle recovered in Cambridge

Waterloo Regional Police are on the lookout for a suspect after a stolen vehicle was located in Cambridge.

On Aug. 29 shortly after 10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Hespeler Road after receiving reports of a vehicle acting suspiciously.

Through the investigation, police found the vehicle was stolen from the GTA. The passenger was arrested, but the driver fled the scene.

Officers searched the area but could not find the driver. They are now appealing to the public to help identify the suspect.

He is described as a brown male, in his 20’s, wearing a blue baseball cap, a black t-shirt, beige pants, sunglasses, a khaki vest and white shoes.

While searching for the suspect driver, police determined there may have been break ins in the area as well, but none have been reported.

The arrested passenger was found to have provided a false identity to authorities. WRPS say he has been wanted by police in Ottawa and was on release conditions at the time.

He is now facing several charges including possession over $5,000, breach of a release order and obstructing police.

The investigation is ongoing.
