Guelph police identify man who approached 12-year-old girl

Guelph police have identified a man who is accused of approaching a girl last week.

A 12-year-old girl was kicking around a soccer ball by herself at a school near Kortright Road West and Ironwood Road just before 7 p.m.

A man approached the girl multiple times, asking if he could play with her and where she lives, saying she reminds her of his ex.

The girl was uncomfortable talking to the man, and a separate man approached and told the suspect to leave her alone.

The man then left, and the girl called her mother to pick her up.

The girl got home safe, and through an investigation Guelph police were able to identify the man in question.
