Arrest made after racial slurs, assault reported at Kitchener place of worship

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest of a Kitchener man following a hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.

On Friday, May 2, at roughly 2:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance at a place of worship near Franklin Street South.

A man had allegedly been trying to enter the place of worship while yelling racial slurs at people and had assaulted them.

An investigation followed, and police arrested the 31-year-old Kitchener man, who has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of causing a disturbance.

The man was held for a bail hearing, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers.
