It’s the series we’ve all been waiting for.
The Kitchener Rangers and London Knights renew their age-old rivalry on Friday night for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in the Forest City.
“We’ve had good battles with them this year, we’ve had some close games, so we’re really excited,” said Rangers forward Cameron Mercer. “I think it’s going to be a tight series, a fast series, but I think we’ve got a really good chance to take them down this year.”
Last season, the Rangers were swept by the Knights in the second round of the playoffs. London has yet to lose a game this post-season, sweeping both the Owen Sound Attack and Erie Otters en route to the Western Conference Finals, and has had almost eight days of rest to prepare for the Rangers.
The Blueshirts on the other hand are battle-tested after a historic comeback against the Windsor Spitfires and have won all of their last four games.
The series comes to The Aud on Monday night for Game 3.
