It’s winner-take-all on Tuesday night in Windsor.
The Kitchener Rangers are on the brink of making history in Game 7 of their second-round playoff series against the Windsor Spitfires. The Blueshirts have clawed their way back from a 3-0 series deficit to tie the series at 3-3 and force a deciding game.
If the Rangers can pull off a victory tonight, they’ll join a short list of OHL teams to have completed that feat.
Only five teams in the league’s history have trailed 3-0 in a playoff series and gone on to win. The Windsor Spitfires have done it twice: Once in 2005 against the Oshawa Generals and in 2010 against the Rangers.
As for Tuesday’s contest, once again, Rangers netminder and OHL Overage Player of the Year, Jackson Parsons, will play a critical role. The 20-year-old goaltender has recorded two shutouts in his last three games.
The series so far
The Windsor Spitfires funnel the majority of their offence through their top line of Liam Greentree, Ilya Protas, and Noah Morneau. The three have combined for 30 goals this postseason, nearly double the rest of the Spitfires’ lineup combined.
The London Knights await the winner of this series in the Western Conference Finals after sweeping the Erie Otters in four games.
The Rangers are sending a bus full of fans to Tuesday’s contest. More details on that trip can be found here.
