A 19-year-old driver has been charged, and then charged again by the OPP for allegedly driving an unsafe load on Highway 401 by the Cambridge ONroute.
Wellington Ontario Provincial Police say it began around 11:00, Monday morning, when they pulled over the driver of a white pick-up truck on Highway 401 hauling a shipping container on a flatbed trailer.
Police said the driver, from Acton, was immediately charged with multiple offences, including faulty brakes and “load not secure.”
The driver was also warned for having improper tires, and for driving a commercial motor vehicle “with a major defect in it, or in drawn vehicle.”
The 19-year-old was told by officers not to transport the trailer in its current state due to safety concerns.
But soon after, officers spotted the same driver with the same shipping container on the same trailer, and pulled the truck over again, this time on Townline Road.
Among the new charges laid were “Drive commercial motor vehicle contrary to prohibition.”
In total, the young driver was charged with 14 offences.
