Tickets on sale for K-W Oktoberfest: ‘Bigger and better’

Tickets are on sale for the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest where residents can hear the “accordion music” while steins of “cold beer await.”

In its 56th year, the K-W event will once again return on weekends from Sept. 27 to Oct. 19 in Festhallen venues across the region including Hubertushaus in Mannheim and Habsburg Haus, Kool Haus, Schwaben Club and Concordia Club in Kitchener.

Hundreds of thousands of festival goers head to the event, with this year’s looking to be “bigger and better than ever,” a press release reads.

“Our Festhallen partners are busy preparing to showcase this community’s unique spirit of Gemütlichkeit through their authentic Bavarian experiences,” Tracy Van Kalsbeek, the Festival Executive Director, said. “And, we’re super excited to announce several of our fantastic performances for the Willkommen Platz too.”

Festhallen tickets are limited and often sell out in advance, Van Kalsbeek said.

In downtown Kitchener between Oct. 11 to 14 is the Willkommen Platz. KIDtoberfest and DOGtoberfest will run the same weekend in the Platz.

Performances and traditional Bavarian entertainment will take place on the stages throughout the weekend.

K-W Oktoberfest is one of the largest festivals outside of Germany. The first event was held in 1969 where “the keg was tapped and history was made.”
