Guelph exploring new options for pedestrian bridge to downtown

By Justine Fraser

A bridge that would connect St. Patrick’s ward in Guelph to the downtown was canceled in December. In a media release from May 17, the City of Guelph said it’s due to “unforeseen challenges.”

The city is trying to find the best options to connect pedestrians to the downtown area while keeping an eye on the budget. They also say they will examine pedestrian crossings in that area as part of an ongoing environmental assessment.

A pedestrian bridge that would run over the river is on the table still.

There will be opportunities in the future for the public to have some input on locations for the pedestrian bridge to downtown. No dates for that public engagement have been set.
