Whether it’s celebrating Irish heritage, dancing a jig to a classic folk song, or simply enjoying a green pint – there’s plenty of fun to be had on St. Patrick’s Day.
In Waterloo Region, several events are happening at local establishments for you to throw on your favourite green shirt and let out your inner paddy.
Events
Reptile Show and Scavenger Hunt – Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Kitchener
Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum will be hosting two reptile shows from Sciensational Sssnakes, with a chance to see, learn about, and potentially touch real-life reptiles.
Story Songs for St. Patrick’s Day – Central Presbyterian Church, Cambridge
Allison Lupton Music will be performing at Central Presbyterian Church starting at 7 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Day with The Newfoundland Band – The NFLD Club, Cambridge
Aside from the Irish, nobody celebrates Paddy’s Day better than Newfoundlanders. The NFLD Club will be hosting a ‘lively celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with The Newfoundland Band’, featuring Irish tunes and a night of fun and laughter.
Lilt of Laughter, Trace of Tears. St Patrick’s Day – The Red Brick Cafe, Guelph
Actor Jay Wilson presents charming characters who find themselves in outlandish situations that will ‘amuse and delight you’.
Road Closures
The city announced Tuesday that it will be implementing parking bans.
The bans will see parking prohibited in an area bordered by Bridgeport Road, Albert Street, Columbia Street, and Weber Street.
Anyone caught violating the ban could be ticketed, even if they register for an overnight parking exemption.
Fencing has also been installed along Ezra Avenue.
It’s the third straight year the road has been blocked off to prevent students from gathering there for an unsanctioned street party.
