OPP are investigating what they’re calling a ‘road rage’ incident on Highway 7/8 that led to a collision between a motorcycle and a car.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 7 through New Hamburg.
Witnesses told police that a motorcycle was speeding and lane-splitting through traffic in the area.
“As it approached near Nafziger Road, there was an interaction between the motorcycle rider and a passenger vehicle,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt in a video posted to social media.
Schmidt said there was then a collision and the motorcycle rider was seriously injured. They were airlifted to a trauma centre for treatment and are now in non-life-threatening condition.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was arrested at the scene and charged with offences including dangerous driving.
Schmidt said additional charges are pending in the investigation and OPP want to speak with any witnesses who saw the crash, or what transpired leading up to it. That includes any drivers with relevant dash cam video.
