Police arrest multiple youths after attempted robberies in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two youths after multiple attempted car thefts in Kitchener.

Police responded to the area of Greenfield Avenue and Kingsway Drive on Wednesday around 7:45 p.m. for reports of a car robbery. The two youths tried to steal a car while someone was inside driving it. The victim was able to drive away after one of the youths pulled out a knife.

Just four hours later, the youths tried to steal a car in the area of Courtland Avenue and Manitou Drive. Once again, a knife was pulled out and the youths failed to steal the car before fleeing.

On Thursday at 9:50 a.m., police found the youths in the area of Kingsway Drive and arrested them.

They were both charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, and possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose.

One of the youths is facing an additional charge relating to a previous robbery at a vape store on Jan. 30 .

Both youths were held for a bail hearing.
