20 Waterloo businesses receive funding from My Main Street program

20 Waterloo businesses have received a total of $200,000 ($10,000 each) from the My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program.

The goal of the program is to create more economic opportunities for business owners, new entrepreneurs and community members.

In Waterloo, the uptown core and university district were identified as the main street communities of focus.

The 20 businesses that received funding include:

Uptown Waterloo

  • Champa Kitchen
  • The Underdog Dance Corp.
  • Poppy’s Bagel and Bakery
  • Ce Food Experience & The Bakery
  • Le Prix Fashion & Consulting
  • Gentle Arts Dojo
  • The Jane Bond
  • KW Professional Organizers
  • The Truth Beauty Company

University district

  • Sweet Dreams Teashop
  • Bhima's Warung
  • Pinup Arcade Bar
  • Chef on Call
  • Rosel's Filipino Cuisine
  • O' My Bakery & Asian Kitchen
  • Los Rolling Tacos
  • King Tin Restaurant
  • Exotica Sandwich & Wrap Bar
  • Roosters Fried Chicken & More

“Our BIA was pleased to be a partner in the My Main Street program. Having the extra support for our existing, and especially new businesses, was deeply appreciated and made a huge impact to their pandemic recovery planning.” Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area Executive Director, Tracy Van Kalsbeek, said in a news release.

The program is supported by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario and the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). The federal government has committed to providing over $23 million to support the recovery and strength of main street businesses in southern Ontario.
