LINK Picnic Festival is no more

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

An annual event to celebrate Afro-Caribbean-Black culture in Waterloo Region will not be moving forward.

Organizers announced Friday that the team has decided to discontinue organizing the LINK Picnic Festival, following a 16 year run. In past years, it was held in late August.

“It was a very difficult decision, but despite our best efforts, we have not been able to overcome the many challenges.” said a statement from the group.

They also thanked all those who attended the festival over the years, as well as volunteers, vendors and sponsors.

Organizers are hoping there are individuals or groups in the community, who can re-imagine the event. They're welcoming expressions of interest. They can be reached by email at questions@linkpicnicfestival.com
