Kitchener man charged with murder in deadly Mississauga shooting

A Kitchener man, arrested on a Canada-wide warrant for a shooting in Waterloo in May, is now facing a charge of first-degree murder.
Peel police said 24-year-old Richard Wuol was one of two suspects identified in a shooting in Mississauga on June 9, which left a 22-year-old Walkerton woman dead.
Wuol was arrested in connection with the May 22 shooting on Lester Street in Waterloo two days after the Mississauga shooting, and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
He was formally charged with first-degree murder on Monday.
Also charged in the case was a 21-year-old Mississauga man, who police said was on a statutory release and participating in an electronic monitoring program while serving a sentence for incidents in Halton.
Charges against the man included robbery and using an imitation firearm.
The police chief in Peel Region didn't hold back his feelings on the matter.
“This was a callous act of violence which resulted in another life being taken from family and loved ones. I am thankful that our investigators swiftly brought resolve to this tragedy,” said Chief Nishan Duraiappah.
“Unfortunately, it also serves as another demonstration of the risk created when dangerous offenders are released into our communities to serve sentences. We need to do more to prevent these realities.”
