Wet, stormy weekend ahead in region into Civic Holiday

Those making outdoor plans on Saturday and Sunday should prepare for a rainy interruption, but one that should conclude in time for Monday’s holiday.
Environment Canada’s forecast predicts that Saturday and Sunday will each see showers, high winds and a moderate chance of thunderstorms.

Saturday
Saturday will see mostly cloudy skies through the afternoon and into the evening, with a 40 percent chance of showers lasting until Tuesday morning. Northerly winds will gust around 30 km/h throughout the day but will drop off slowly throughout the evening. Saturday’s projected daily high is 27 degrees, which will feel closer to 33 with the humidex.
Risks of a thunderstorm will begin Saturday evening alongside a guaranteed bout of showers. Roughly 10 to 15 mm of rainfall are expected by midnight. The overnight low is projected at 17 degrees.
Environment Canada predicts the UV index rating for Saturday will be 8, or ‘very high’.
Sunday
The 100 percent chance of showers will drop to 40 percent by early Sunday afternoon, with clouds remaining through the day. Environment Canada projects 10 to 15 mm of rain throughout Sunday in addition to Saturday’s rainfall. Wind speeds will rise in the afternoon from 20 km/h towards 40 km/h with frequent gusts throughout the rest of the day. The projected high temperature for the day is 23 degrees, which will feel like 28 with the humidex.
Cloud cover and a moderate chance of showers will continue through Sunday overnight into Monday. The local temperature is projected to drop to 14 degrees overnight.
Environment Canada predicts the UV index rating for Sunday will be 3, or ‘moderate’.
Monday
Luckily for those looking to enjoy the Civic Holiday outside with family and friends, the weekend of consistent rain will finally turn sunny by Monday. Monday afternoon will see a mix of sun and cloud, but no likely chance of rain. The daily high on the Civic Holiday will be 26, with projected temperatures dropping as low as 14 overnight.
