Regional police sergeant found not guilty of sexual assault

Waterloo Regional Police Service Sgt. Caleb Roy has been found not guilty of sexual assault.
His defence lawyer confirming the decision to 570 NEWS Friday afternoon.
Regional Police contacted the Special Investigations Unit back on Nov. 28, 2017 regarding complaints of a sexual nature made by a woman against the officer. He was suspended with pay after WRPS learned of the allegations.
The identity of the woman is being protected by a publication ban.
At the time, Regional Police said it was in relation to “incidents that reportedly occurred between October of 2010 and December of 2012.” Regional Police said the matter was when the officer was off-duty.
Sgt. Roy was charged by the province's Special Investigations Unit in October 2018.
