Frank's Jewellers is celebrating a milestone birthday, a whole century of business.
The local business was opened by William Frank back in 1919, it then was passed down to his son Bill and is now owned by his grandson Bob.
Bob Frank has been running the business for over 30 years and was the one who introduced the catchy jingle that is stuck in the heads of residents around the region. The jingle hit the air waves 30 years ago and was created with the help of our sister station CHYM 96.7.
“We are just very lucky that it turned out to be catchy and memorable, we have been playing it quite a few times over the last 30 years.”
Frank said the jingle has been great for business but he says Frank's Jewellers has been thriving for a long time.
“We do the same thing today as we've done over our history, just try and be diligent and work hard for our customers, give them good service and value, I guess so far its worked.”
He said it feels great to be a part of the success of the business.
“It's something you don't think about, you come to work everyday and you do your thing, and then all of sudden we made it to this incredible milestone of 100 years, so we are very humbled and proud that we have made it this far.”
Frank's Jewellers was originally located at 14 King St S., but in 1941 was moved to its current home at 8 King St S. in Waterloo.
According to Frank, the jewellery business has changed a lot over the years. When his grandfather and father ran the business, clocks and watches were the top sellers, but over the last 30 or 40 years there has been a shift to engagement and wedding rings.
