The Indigenous community members of the KW area will be hosting a candlelight vigil to acknowledge, remember and speak out for the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls (MMIWG) in Canada.  The vigil will take place in downtown Waterloo Thursday October 4th, 2018 starting at 6:30 pm in the Town Square, King Street South.

Please join the inaugural event, for our region, to become more informed of this ongoing crisis and to provide support to the families that have lost a loved Indigenous woman or girl that was murdered and show our support for those still looking for their loved Indigenous woman or girl.

This movement for social change began in 2006 with only 11 vigils happening across the country and has grown to an impressive 212 vigils taking place last year in various locations nationally and internationally.  You are invited to build community with all citizens of the region while sharing a moment of silence, singing honour songs and lighting a candle for those that need our support and encouragement to continue to honour their missing or murdered Indigenous loved woman or girl.
