Another court appearance for a murder suspect that fled across the Canada-U.S. border, and was ultimately arrested by Secret Service in Texas.
24-year-old Ager Hasan is set to make a video appearance in a Kitchener courtroom on Monday – and it’ll be his third since being escorted back to Waterloo Region last weekend.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Hasan last year, after his 22-year-old girlfriend was found dead inside of her Country Hills apartment. Police say Melinda Vasilije died as a result of multiple stab wounds, and Hasan had been on the run since her body was discovered.
The Hamilton man was officially extradited back to Canada on January 5th, when two local officers went to pick him up from a San Antonio prison.
Members of Vasilije’s family were present when Hasan made his first public in-person court appearance last Monday. It didn’t last long though, as Hasan was quickly taken back to Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.
Monday’s appearance will be via CCTV video-link at 2:30 p.m. Hasan faces a charge of second-degree murder, and three counts of breach of recognizance.
