What’s on tap for the first weekend of Oktoberfest

The 49th annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest officially begins on Friday.
The opening ceremony, which includes the keg tapping, begins at 11:15 a.m. in Kitchener’s Carl Zehr Square.
Oktoberfest says the nine day festival attracts more than 700,000 participants.
Here’s what else is on top for the first weekend:
Saturday:
570 NEWS, CHYM 96.7 and Country 106.7 will host our 36 annual Oktoberfest free Family Breakfast. It runs from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Bingemans in Kitchener. You can find more details here.
Donations for the Food Bank of Waterloo would be gladly accepted.
Thanksgiving Day Monday:
The annual K-W Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade begins at 8:30 a.m. at Weber and Frederick Street in downtown Kitchener. Click here for the map.
