Severe thunderstorm watch ended for Waterloo Region

A severe thunderstorm watch has now ended for Waterloo Region, after Environment Canada downgraded its severe thunderstorm warning to a watch just after 3 p.m., Thursday.

The watch was issued for Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo, as a cluster of thunderstorms affecting the Woodstock to Brantford areas were expected to roll through the Region into the evening.

The main threat was torrential downpours, which were expected to dump up to 50 mm of rain in an hour or less in some areas.
