An overwhelming number of Conservative members from Waterloo region stuck with front-runner Maxime Bernier Saturday night, at the party’s leadership convention in Toronto.
In Kitchener South-Hespeler, Bernier beat winner Andrew Scheer with 51 per cent of the vote.
Supporters in Kitchener-Conestoga stuck with Bernier until the final ballot, and then support for Scheer doubled from 30 per cent to 63 per cent.
It seemed that members in Kichener-Centre, however, didn’t like either Bernier or Scheer, because they voted for Erin O’Toole until he was eliminated in the second-last round.
