Lockout over for workers at Hematite in Guelph

The lockout is over for workers at the Hematite Manufacturing plant in Guelph.
The 61 members voted 49-11 in favour of a new deal Wednesday.
The main issues hashed out in the new deal included mandatory overtime, rotating shifts, significant wage cuts, and senior staff losing their fifth week of vacation.
Barry Fowlie, Director of Workers United Canada Council tells 570 News that these were “line in the sand” issues for both sides.
“They’re I think relieved the issues have been resolved and they can go back holding their heads up high, and I think the employers learned a few lessons through this process as well.”
Employees at the Speedvale Avenue West facility had been on the picket line for 10 days.
