The long wait is almost over for Guelph resident Korey Jarvis.
The 29-year-old wrestler qualified for the Rio Olympics back in March, placing second at the continental qualifier.
Jarvis tells 570 News on what it means to represent Canada: “I feel like I’m a true Canadian, I have that spirit…I’m really proud of my country and proud of my accomplishments. I know when I’m out there, the whole country is going to be behind me, supporting me…I can’t wait to wear the Maple Leaf at the games.”
“I’m excited to just go down with the team and experience the whole event and have my training partner, coach with me and just have a good preparation before I compete.”
Jarvis is scheduled to compete at the Olympics on Saturday, August 20th.
He won a silver medal at last summer’s Pan Am Games in Toronto.
