‘Unbelievable feeling’: Kitchener chef wins $100K lotto prize

A Kitchener woman is $100,000 richer after a big lottery win.

Surbhi Kumar matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in the April 8 LOTTO MAX draw.

She bought the winning ticket at Real Canadian Superstore on Highland Road West in Kitchener.

Kumar works as a private chef and said after playing the lottery for a decade, she couldn’t believe she had won.

“When I discovered I’d won, my daughter started doing a happy dance in the store. We were so excited!” said Kumar.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling. I called my brother in Dubai and told him the good news. At first, he just laughed and said, ‘Very funny.’ He thought I was joking with him,” Surbhi smiled. “I said, ‘You won’t be laughing when you see my name on the news!'”
