All of Waterloo Region’s roundabouts will be getting pedestrian crossovers this summer.
The Region has approved the move in response to changes to the Highway Traffic Act.
The Record reports they’ll be installed at each entrance and exit and will be marked with signs and paint. Drivers who do not stop for pedestrians using the walkways could receive a ticket from police.
About $250,000 is expected to be spent on installation of the crossovers and to educate the public about them.
